Today our club heard from Penny Schumacher, Development Director of The Grief Club of Minnesota. This organization was founded in 2020 and its mission is to provide a place where grieving children, teens, and their families find connections, share their experiences, and heal. The 2 co-founders themselves, experienced deaths of significant family members as children. They took their combined 45 years of experience in grief & mental health crisis to form this Club to offer help at no cost to participants and accepting no insurance.
It was shocking to learn that 1 in 12 children in the US will experience the death of a parent or sibling before the age of 18. We learns how the Grief Club incorporates Art in their therapy.
