The Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School senior CeCe-Amari Gaines is its March 2015 Student of the Month.
 
Originally from Eagan, CeCe moved to Rosemount when she was three years old. Her mother is a professor at Bethel Seminary, and her father is an aircraft fueler at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul airport.  Her brother is a chaplain in the United States Army.
 
CeCe has excelled academically during high school, maintaining a 3.9 GPA. She received the President’s education award in 2011. She received the student of the month award in Earth Science in 2012 and lettered academically.  CeCe was student of the year in Biology in 2013 and received a Chenille Academic bar in 2013 and 2014. She was also named student of the month in Chemistry in 2014. Recently, she took a class called the Mentor Program and participated in an internship at KSTP-Channel 5 for three months. While there, she work alongside Ellen McNamara, Megan Newquist, Brandi Powell and Lindsey Brown.
 
Outside the classroom, CeCe is involved in Student Council, the National Honor Society, the National French Honor Society.  She was also a part of the Rosemount High School Irishette Dance team for two years. Currently CeCe serves as president of the National French Honor Society and as a youth leader at her church. Additionally, she was president of Rosemount High School’s Bel Canto Women’s choir for two years.
 
CeCe has also found ways to balance her busy academic schedule with serving her community.  She organized a fundraiser through the National French Honor Society, which sold croissants at lunch to help support a local family through the winter. She also helped to organize many student activities through Student Council, including Neon Dance. She has also volunteered in many ways, including through the National Honor Society as part of their American Red Cross Blood Drive.  CeCe has also served as a student volunteer for the Parks and Recreation Commission of Rosemount for two years.
 
CeCe also worked at the Minnesota Zoo for almost two years.  More recently, she has worked as a hostess at Porter Creek Hardwood Grill in Burnsville. In her spare time, CeCe enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
 
Next year, she will attend Bethel University where she plans to major in communications. After college, CeCe plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.
