Rosemount Rotary Club is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School Senior Anna Johnson is its September 2016 Student of the Month.
 
 
Anna lives in Rosemount with her parents and three siblings.  She credits her parents’ support and guidance for her success, and family plays a major role in Anna’s life.

Anna excels both in and out of the classroom.  She has taken many AP (Advanced Placement) and CIS (College in School) courses, including in computer science, math (calculus) and physics.  She is continuing this rigorous schedule during her senior year, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Anna has been awarded with many academic achievement awards, including as an AP Scholar with Distinction.
 
Anna is also active outside the classroom. She is captain of the cross-country team and is a member of the track and nordic skiing teams.  She has also participated in over 50 triathalons.
 
Anna also serves in several leadership roles. As President of the Student Council, she serves her fellow students by overseeing and organizing a variety of events during the school year. In addition to testing her leadership skills, Anna has enjoyed this opportunity to encourage student participation and school spirit by emceeing many events at RHS. Anna is also a member of National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. Each of these honor societies requires volunteer hours, and Anna surpasses these requirements through her volunteer efforts at school and in the community.
 
For example, she has served as a Rosemount Area Athletic Association cross-country coach, an MYSL ski coach, Regions Hospital Volunteer and a Shannon Park Elementary School tutor.  She has also been instrumental in helping to raise $90,000 for muscular dystrophy by helping to organize Swim2Win4MD, A 24-hour swim-a-thon to raise awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
 
Anna is also active in DECA as an officer.  She has been to nationals each year during high school, and in 2016, she placed third in the United States.
 
In her spare time, Anna enjoys relaxing with her friends and family. She enjoys camping, hiking, dancing, reading, swimming, traveling and astronomy.
 
After high school, Anna plans to attend Boston College, Harvard or Princeton.
