Rosemount Rotary Club is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School Senior Lizzie Johnson is its October 2016 Student of the Month.
 
 
Lizzie has been a top academic performer at RHS. She is currently ranked at the top of her class and has a 4.0 GPA.  She has repeatedly received the “Top 10” award and academic letters during each year of high school. During her junior year, she won the Yale Book Award.

During high school, Lizzie has frequently been selected by her peers to serve in a variety of leadership roles. She is Vice President of Student Council and led the dance committee for homecoming, which had record attendance. She was also selected by her peers as Homecoming Queen.
 
Lizzie has also participated in DECA for four years and has been an officer for three years.  She is a three-time international qualifier, and during the past two years won the highest fundraiser for muscular dystrophy at the International Career Development Conference, a DECA event. She has also been instrumental in raising money for muscular dystrophy through Swim2Win4MD, A 24-hour swim-a-thon to raise awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
 
She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National French Honor Society.  She has been involved in Youth In Government, RHS Band, the cross-country team (captain), the track team and the Nordic skiing team.
 
Through her volunteer work, Lizzie has also served the community, including through her work at Fairview Hospital and through St. Joseph Church, where she has served as a youth leader and Catechist.
 
When she has time to slow down, Lizzie enjoys spending time with her parents, reading, sailing and other watersports.  She also enjoys her family’s annual trip to Lake Tahoe each year.
 
After high school, Lizzie plans to attend college.  She has applied to several schools, including Columbia University and University of Chicago.  She plans to study Political Science, Economics and International Relations.
